Effective Monday May 1, 2017, K9 Rehab Wellness Centre has acquired Waterworkz Paw Spa and we are very excited to continue the wonderful services to the dogs and their parents!

At K9 Rehab Wellness Centre, we have combined our education, experience, love of pets, and our passion for business, to become the leading warm water canine swimming facilities and full service wellness centres in the lower mainland.

We have the highest qualifications in hydrotherapy to ensure exceptional care and experience for the dogs in our pool. Our practitioners include a Holistic Veterinarian, Canine Chiropractor, Small Animal Massage Therapist, Reiki Master and Energy Work Therapist with a specialized Animal Grooming Center for compromised dogs coming soon. We also have a small retail area specializing in items that complement our services as well as good quality food products to help your pets maintain a healthy body weight with great nutritional choices

We respect and admire Waterworkz current dedicated team, great facility and personal touch. Our goal over the next few months is to invest and expand on this excellence for a enjoyable and professional parent and dog experience. Improvements will include:
•Complete updating to the facility environment, including new paint and repairs of worn and tired structures.

•A new higher ramp that meets the top of the pool structure avoiding the need to step into the pool which will continues along the far wall into the pool for a safer entry into the water

•A safety gate at the entry point to the pool deck

•Larger reception and gait analysis area when you first enter the building

•A small specialized grooming centre that will accommodate compromised dogs for nail trims and basic grooming needs

•Behind the scene we are upgrading all the pool equipment to ensure a clean, a low chemical salt water pool with diatomaceous earth filtration system which is the highest grade system ensuring the best conditions for the dogs

•Expanding the hours of operation to allow everyone on the waiting list the opportunity for us to help their dogs needs

•Adding to our products with items that complement our services at K9 Rehab Wellness Centre

•Additional qualified staff

•New practitioners to complete our services offered

It will be business as usual, when it comes to your reserved appointment times and the staff that cares for your dog that you’ve come to know with the addition of a few new ones to fill in for Tanya’s schedule. Prices will remain the same as will the schedule and allotted time in the pool.
There are a few new improvements on the care side that we will be implementing:
•All our new clients will require a veterinary release form signed by their veterinarian. This has no cost at the vet’s office. It will ensure we have the clearance for your dog to enter the pool and your veterinarian is aware your dog is participating in warm water swim therapy. Our approach is to build a team to help your dog which includes, you as the “parent” of your dog, our staff at the pool, your veterinarian and all other practitioners such as massage, physiotherapy and chiropractor who are helping with the rehabilitation of your dog. This relationship will allow us to communicate with the other people helping your dog to ensure the best outcome and care is given collectively.

•Rebranding, we will be changing the name of the company immediately for a fresh new start. The Waterworkz website will be active for the next year so that we don’t lose anyone looking for us in the transition. The telephone number will remain the same. Our contact information can be found at the top of this email, please add us to your contact list.

•You will see a few new faces in the day to day operations, David Friesen and his wife Anita (whom most of you have already met in the pool as the senior hydrotherapist for the past few months) are the new owners and will be available with Clo the office administrator to help you with any questions you may have.

We sincerely consider it an honor and privilege to care for your dog at K9 Rehab Wellness Centre. Together with our incredible team we look forward to building on the great service you have come to expect. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Life Changes!

To all my valued WaterWorkz humans and pool babies,

Life can sure throw us some curves.  My heart is heaving with this one curve, but it’s time and I am moving forward in a very big way.  I have sold WaterWorkz to Anita, who many of you may already know as your water therapist. I am confident this wonderful business that I built from nothing, with all of you supporting me, will continue to offer you the very best therapy with Anita’s knowledge and caring so that makes it a little easier to move forward.  Beginning May 1st 2017, know that you are in good hands!

DJ and I need to spend more quality time together.  I have given all I can give during these great 7 and a half years but have n.o. more to give. It’s time for a new venture and a normal schedule….long weekend? Yes I will definitely know what that is again!.

I thank all of you for trusting me with your precious family members.  I am grateful to all my staff, new and old and all my practitioners. Of course I thank all my pool babies that have shared such special and memorable times with me.  They have all made a huge impact in my life and I will be forever grateful to them for teaching me so much.

To say these years have been the most rewarding of my life is an understatement.  I have enjoyed all the love; human and canine, kisses; human and canine, hugs; human and canine and the many smiles from my humans and canines! Of course seeing our old dogs turn into puppies again is the best reward of all!  Helping the very many dogs I have through WaterWorkz just never gets old……I however at 58 am getting older and it’s time to move on to a new and exciting venture as the Canadian Distributor for VetGold.

So I wish you all the best dog love possible and when my time comes (let’s hope it’s a long time from now) I think I will be overwhelmed with the amount of dogs there to greet me, with Jigs leading the pack!

For those of you that are not on FaceBook I have copied the story of his last wonderful days with us all!

I thank you all for your support over the years.  I consider you part of my family and the experiences at WaterWorkz have made a strong imprint in my heart.

Jigs, my Boy, my Joy, fought the fight of his terminal aggressive diagnosis with us all and I have to say we won!  Having been told 1 to 3 months or 3 to 6 with Chemo we went the Holistic and Energy Work route and 7 months and 22 days later we said goodbye on Friday April 7th at 3:30 pm.

His last days, weeks and months were filled with daycare, going to work and the park with mum and just living his life as he always had.  And making me laugh, man that dog was funny!

Jigs, being the dog that he was, gave us a precious and selfless send off.  After 30 plus hours of barely lifting his head and only giving his dad a half tail wag when he came home early from work that day decided that when his magical Dr. Shuli arrived two hours later it was time to be, well Jigs.

He lifted his head when she entered the house.  When she entered the room he stood up on the bed!!!!! started wagging his tail!!!!, sending our jaws to the floor! He was going out in style and was going to make it as joyful as this painful time could be.

Shuli offered a treat but we said he hadn’t eaten yet today but surprise surprise he took it!  Then I thought well you want to be normal before you go, ok, let’s do our favorite trick.  “You want the treat? Tell me Jigs” and he did it with the energy and joy he has always done it!  Of course I had to do it about four times as he was making me laugh so much and I didn’t want to stop laughing and smiling at my boy.  I am hoping he didn’t notice the tears streaming down my face….I then gave his dad a treat and asked if he could “Tell DJ” and the did it a few times for him making us all laugh yet again!

He was ready and he decided “We are all going to make this as positive an experience as we can”.  It was, thanks Jigs!

We miss you so very very much, our Boy, our Joy.

Burnaby SPCA Holiday Pet Photos a success

Another successful fundraiser for the Burnaby SPCA during our Holiday Pet Photos at WaterWorkz Paw Spa!   A huge thank you to everyone who helped at our event yesterday afternoon.  All of our practitioners were there, the Holistic Vet, Chiropractor, Massage Therapist and Healing Touch for Animals.  Our team was, as usual, friendly, happy and helpful to all who walked through our doors.  Erich Saide did a great job along with his assistant Prudence with some great shots.

It was great to see many dogs that have come to us for hydrotherapy in the past and the ones we see every week.  We love having new people come by and there were many who were given a tour of our space and some were lucky enough to see one of our pool buddies during their therapy session in our warm water pool!

How fitting that an adopted 7 month old SPCA special that has found a fabulous new forever home came to watch his friend Ben the Dog during his water therapy session.  Since we offer a free water therapy session to each the West Vancouver SPCA and the Burnaby SPCA every week I just couldn’t help myself and had to give Rolo a go and he was a rock star! Only had about 10 minutes since we had another session after Ben but next time we will teach him to fetch!

We raised a little over $1,500, pretty good for 4 hours of fun!   We thank the volunteers who fed us and helped keep things organized and running smoothly……speaking of smooth I would guess there was twenty or more jars of Peanut Butter…..our bin could not hold all the toys etc we received….Please remember we are still collecting both Peanut Butter and toys etc so more donations are always welcome!

Enjoy a few pictures…..of course I could not include everyone but had to have my Golden Retriever Jigs as one of the shots, he is such a ham!

Holiday Pet Photo for SPCA Burnaby Branch

Just letting you know there is a terrific chance to get the best ever holiday pet photo of your pet this Saturday, Nov 28th from 11am – 3pm. Erich Saide (you will all recognize him from his professional work at events, YPO, calendars, and campaigns) has agreed to donate his time for this event.  He has a pooch named Bella and this cause has tugged at his heart-strings!

This event is taking place at  WaterWorkz Paw Spa.  It’s in Burnaby but don’t let that scare you off because it’s literally Boundary and Grandview. Take Grandview, left on Boundary, first right after the exit ramp to the hwy, round the bend, and poof there is the building on your left.  Address is below. Super easy.

Money raised goes directly to the Burnaby SPCA and they could use your help. $20 or whatever you can spare.  Families welcome.  Please consider dropping by,  we would love to see you, as would, Erich Saide, the SPCA Volunteers and the team at WaterWorkz.

Please consider helping some of our province’s most needy animals right when they need it most – the holidays.  And in the process get yourself the most amazing professional picture of your pooch with you/family. Please send this email to anyone you think may be interested to come and start a holiday pet photo tradition.

And if you are worried your pup is excitable, please know that we deal with all animals all the time and every dog/pet is more than welcome at this event.  Special needs are celebrated. And if you need a private moment in order to get this picture taken, we make that happen so don’t fret.

The Burnaby SPCA will happily accept canned food donations, used or new toys and PEANUT BUTTER is an ongoing need for those happy Kong moments!                                                                                                                                                 We have many baskets this year donated by the great clients we have…..Lush, Purdy’s, Three Dog Bakery and many more and a “SuperNatural” surprise basket! There are really just so many reasons to come!

Riplee’s Ranch Holistic Pet Food

At WaterWorkz Paw Spa we are always sourcing good Holistic products and stay as Canadian as we can.  Riplee’s Ranch meets all the criteria we look for.  It’s locally sourced, locally made and has convenient free home delivery.  RR logo10

While I was looking for a new kibble for my dog Jigs I was introduced by a client to this great local product and Jigs loves it!  When I checked the website http://ripleesranch.com.  I noticed they were in need of a distributor for Burnaby did some research, asked lots of questions and the rest is history.  I am happy to be offering free delivery in Burnaby and sales of this great holistic product line at our Burnaby location, 3831 Still Creek Ave. which is just down the street from the Willingdon Costco. Many of our clients come for their hydrotherapy session, buy their Riplee’s Ranch pet food and their dog enjoys the wonderful smells of their new dog food while happily sleeping the car while the parents go shopping  (not on hot days of course, our clients would never do that!)

We offer a sample pack to people and their pets and when our client April from Bronte Pet Services brought one home for Chica she emailed me this picture with the caption….”Safe to say Chica likes them”20150622_195213

Riplee’s Ranch builds holistic recipes based on nutritional science and the pet foods contain all-natural, regionally sourced ingredients. Offering a variety of recipes for all the ages, sizes and breeds of your pet.  The flavor combinations are great, Fresh Turkey and Sweet Potato. Fresh Chicken and Whole Peas, Lamb and Brown Rice along with other great combinations for dogs and cats.  Dog biscuits and canned cat and dog food are also on the menu.  The Turkey is so fresh it’s pumped into the recipe just before it gets processed into kibble.  Riplees Ranc

Please give us a call at 604 435 0002 or stop by WaterWorkz Paw Spa to pick up your Riplee’s Ranch Holistic Pet Food.  Don’t forget to ask for a tour if it’s your first visit to our facility!
