I love what I do and take pride in offering warm water exercise for your canine companion.  I am happy to offer my services for no fee on a weekly basis to both the Burnaby SPCA and Pads.  The kind words in these testimonials are an example of everything experienced here at WaterWorkz Paw Spa whether your dog is swimming for weight control, floating to help with recovery after an injury or an operation or just to have some special time with their human companion.                                                                                                                    Tanya VanderHammen

What an awesome place, it is gorgeous!  Clean and very professional with a variety of services such as massage but it’s the water pool that I was interested in.  The warm water pool is read more

Hi Tanya,
Just wanted to let you know that it seems like even after the first session, we have noticed a little bit of difference in Rusty already.
Tonight when he came home, first of all, he was hungry and wanted his dinner right away.  Then, he hopped up on the couch (remember I told you it’s a good sign if he goes up on the couch meaning his hips are not sore) and took a nap.  When we went out to get dinner, Rusty wanted to go along (which is another good sign that he is not sore)Throughout the evening when Rusty was moving around, getting up and lying down NOT A SINGLE GROAN came out of him!!!!  That is huge (for me) since lately he has been groaning when he gets up or lies down and it just breaks my heart…..
He also seems to be al bit more alert and a bit more active tonight, then his typical after daycare night when he just lays around farting…ha ha
So either I really want the sessions to work or it is really great, but seems like just a short session today there are already some noticeable results!!  Thanks again and looking forward to next Wednesday!!.........................

Hi Tanya,
Just wanted to touch base about Libby's swim on Tuesday.  We did notice she was putting some more weight on her leg the next day and she really seemed to enjoy the session.  I'll be in touch about booking another session in the next week or so depending
on how she's doing.  Thanks so much - I really loved your facility and service.
Susie

Good morning Tanya,
Thanks for your kindness, consideration and skill with Diesel. I just love your new business. I am most comfortable when I am able to observe. Both Mother and I enjoyed our session together with you on Tuesday. Thanks for your consideration to have us both sitting and watching. I was surprised to learn that when my Mother left for a few minutes Diesel stopped playing to see where she went. We now know that he keeps an eye out for her too. Watching Diesel learn to trust another individual in a water setting was terrific.

Diesel slept all afternoon once we arrived home. In fact he missed his 4:00 walk before dinner. A tired dog snoozing on his ottoman is a beautiful sight. Thanks again for your expertise with my dog. See you next on Tuesday December 1st at 11:00.
Have a great day.
Lois

Hey Tanya,
I think both Mick and I enjoyed it - though I think she was a little dazed and not certain what happened :).  She made me walk around your entire parking lot with her before getting in the car - can't say as I have seen her like that before - but maybe she was still warm and wanted to cool down, or simply didn't know what to do with herself she was so relaxed :).  Anyway looking forward to seeing you on Monday and we can see what goes on with her then :).
Sandy

Hello Tanya VanderHammen,
I congratulate you with your opening of a first class Spa for dogs and availability to buy mobility carts.  Dr.Sandhu from Sunshine Plaza Animal Hospital highly recommended one of my three Sheltie dogs, the youngest try it.  Almost four months later, although high maintenance at home/in the pool she has come along way and with a lot of TLC, she is starting to walk with assistance.  Thanks to all the support, prayers. In closing I would highly recommend your professional services with flexible hours.
Sincerely,

Hi Tanya:
Glad you are enjoying the roses from Toby.  He is still doing well with his leg even after  his walks and run in the park.  So thank you so much for helping him recover. Toby truly is a chick magnet he has left many broken hearts all over the lower mainland.
Thanks
Rebecca

Hi Tanya,
I enjoyed the experience... I didn't notice any changes in Tiko’s appetite (he's *always* up for food).  He sacked out when we got home (but he's a pretty talented napper normally).  He was doing the yoga frog legs yesterday evening and this morning, which I like....because it means his hind legs are totally relaxed.  He was in daycare this morning...

Just a quick note regarding Coco and her Chiro appt today. Her back end is completely fine, Lana her chyropractor didn' t have to do anything to it, first time ever. She was tight up the top of her back which is a first time for her but Lana said that it may have been bothering her and that could be why she was a little off these past two swims. Anyways, she is definitely trimmer and doing fabulous!   Thanks for everything, see you thursday am.

Hi Tanya:
Just an email to give you feedback on our parent swim session this Saturday. The pool session was excellent. The music and the place itself is very well planned and that is obvious when you arrive there. You asked me  questions about Maggie, which I really liked. It let me know you were interested in the dogs needs. While you probably wanted to get your hands on Maggie when we got in the water and start doing your job, you allowed me to have a boundary with her and waited until I felt comfortable letting her go as she is an abused animal and has trust issues.

Once we were in the pool you were very relaxed and explained things clearly to me. When I was not doing it correctly, you were very calm  and non judgmental with your feedback. I think you will work very well with other people and whatever quirks they will have regarding their dogs! Once you took Maggie, I could see that your energy with her was  very good and she trusted you quite quickly. You were even aware  enough not to move behind her and make her nervous about what you were  doing.

Tanya, I think you are going to be great at your new found passion as you are very open and easy going individual who really  cares about what you are doing. I felt the whole experience was  pleasant not only for the dog, but very relaxing for me as well. You even chose special dog music which worked well for Maggie.  When we got out of the pool you were very quick not only to take care  of Maggie, but to also ensure that I had a towel extremely quickly --  even before I had time to ask for one. I thought that was extremely  professional and well-planned.

I only have positive things to say about the experience I had with Maggie in your pool. I think you are doing, exactly what you are supposed to be doing and I believe you will be (already are in fact), very good at what you do

I will be in touch. Take care, and thank you!

"LEARN TO SWIM" PARENT COMMENTS

Hard to believe my dog was afraid to swim. I mean he's a Duck toller for Pete sake. But he was and I didn't know what to do. Then Someone gave me a card for the WaterWorkz Paw Spa Warm Water Wellness Center. I have to be honest, I had my doubts that taking my dog for swimming lessons would work.

I was wrong. Boy was I ever. One session with Tanya and my dog jumped in the water at our park the the very next week! I was totally shocked! And very very happy! I couldn't have done it with out her.  Without any hesitation I would recommend Tanya & the WaterWorkz Paw Spa Warm Water Wellness Center to anyone who might need help with their best friend.

Hi Tanya,

Just thought I'd pass along a bit of an update on maggie. She's doing pretty good, not getting sore that much anymore, but still chewing her leg (although she started chewing her other knee this week, not sure what that's all about!). Her progress with the water has been amazing! I've been taking her to the Coquitlam river a few times a week, and one day she just decided to walk through one of the small offshoot streams to check out the other side! she hasn't looked back since :)
She still won't go in off of an edge into water, but if it slopes in she'll walk in no problem!
I've attached a photo from today, and a short video clip.  I can't wait to get maggie back swimming at your pool!

Good Morning Tanya,
I have to tell you, I took Luka to the off leash area at Jericho beach - he DID NOT HESITATE to walk into the surf, unprompted and when I threw a stick he confidently walked into the water and as he lost footing, just swamp his way happily to the stick.  We had a great time so I hope he will show you his new found swim confidence when we see you next.

"MOBILITY CART" PARENT COMMENTS

Hello from all of us.
Charlie seems to be getting along quite well in his cart. We had to keep adjusting things to get them just right. He is able to go on and off the curbs in his cart but hasn't decided to take a run yet.  An SPCA lady stopped my husband and thought the cart was the best thing since sliced bread. So he gave her your endorsement. The more PR  the better. She knew of you and the spa, so maybe you had spoken to  her at one point in time.  Hope all is well with you and we will be in touch.
Eunice

Hi Tanya
Charlie is good and motoring around in his cart. It has given him a
new lease on life. Hope your business is doing well
